Who has used Ashcroft Transmissiions and if so did you use their installation garage down the road?

Would you recommend them?

I got my recon transfer box from syncro gearboxes. Very impressed and great guy to deal with.

Not had any dealings with ashcrofts, but they were quite a bit more expensive and I don't think they are as thorough.

Not used them myself, but think I'm right in saying they are generally seen as knowledgable and helpful to deal with

I was looking for a recon gearbox, but they were a bit on the expensive side and I eneded up sourcing elsewhere

i have to be honest... I'm looking for 'anyone' who has had a positive experience with them?

I only know two people who have had dealings with them, me and the Guy I just bought my D2 from. Neither of us had a good experience so I'm wondering where they get their excellent reputation from...

I hadn't heard amazing things, that is mostly why I didn't go with them

I have their HD 1/2 shafts, drive flanges and locker. No complaints here, though they were sourced through Crown Diffs rather than direct from Ashcrofts so haven't had any direct dealings with them.

I have dealt with them a few times over the years , they are competent and have the knowledge , wouldn't call them exceptional , but probably better than many . From what i have heard they do stand by their work , but then again the law requires that, but some are slippery. HTSH

I live 10 minutes from them had an issue with a recon gearbox which was never resolved however this was because Dave and Ian were out of the country and the receptionist wasn't very helpful. was young and wrote them off. Halfshafts their own lockers etc all good stuff yes they do fail but are warrantied no quibbles. not quite as advertised No failures which is on the website. Right now I'm contemplating buying a pair of HD shafts maybe a locker. will go to ashcrofts no question.

Who is fitting your gearbox Markyate or Houghton Regis Autoland Bill?

Going by my experience on this forum, I'd personally be approaching James Martin if I wanted my auto gearbox overhauling...

I've been very impressed by Dave Ashcroft. Great bloke to chat to.

You want to be impressed talk to Ian. Dave is the business man and engineer but Ian is the old
Skool engineer. I remember years ago when I was a youngun them
Making bits in the shed for their comp cars

Ive never sent my bx for reconditioning (did it myself) but I'd recommend syncro gearboxes. Friends with him on facebook and seen some of the work hes done, seems to be very thorough.

I've heard mixed things about Ashcrofts

From a conversation I had with them last week,

They generally only do transmissions,

Was trying to source a Rear diff (freelander 1) for someone at work, turns out they're as rare as rocking horse **** lol

I can recommend Ashcrofts... used their fitting service too...well impressed, only needed to take the motor off the road for a day - recon box, and did the clutch/DMF while they had it all open.

Still paying off the 0% credit card bill... worth it though!
