I just bought a great 18v cordless tool kit from Argos sale. Drill with hammer ,work light [multi-directional] ,circular saw and jigsaw with two batteries £89.99 .Ive already got one set but couldn,t leave it for that price.I just got the last one in Manchester area so be quick, you wont be dissapointed.

i'd guess it's got ni-cads in it ?

Screwfix Shrewsbury had some Makita 18v kit reduced from £249 to £49 last week

me point being, for not so very much more you can get professional quality tools that won't fall apart if you use then more than 4 times a year ;)

I seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee and thats correct also :) let's hope he uses them only once a year then, and only if the sun is shinning, then they should last a few years just like my tools. :)

My Lady bought me a 10" Worx angle grinder/cutter a few years ago, and generally it was pretty well made, always works and does a lot of hard work when we are making up the engine trollies etc etc. We don't use it on small stuff, only 4" + angle and channel/RHS.

While you probably wouldn't use them for production working, they are better than the really cheapo Chinese versions, and I'd have another one.

We've also got a few 4" cutters and grinders, some cheapo ones that lasted better than expected and a Bosch which just goes on and on.

Sean, Im a professional builder [when I can find work] These tools are not ****.I have used them in my trade and I can tell you they certainly stand up to the work Ive give them. They may not be dewalt or Makita but for the money they do last .I bought my first set in 2004 and only the jigsaw packed up after years of abuse. So stick that up yer pessimistic arse. :p
