One thing that worried me, is they said they won't be replacing the plastic rods to metal ones which I'd heard is the culprit for the HG going. They said that these 'mods' whatever they are, should solve the problem. Any idea if that's right or not?!
To Avoid This Mess ,i Have Since Done The Following To My Freelander 1.8 .took The Thermostat Out And Resealed The Piping, since The Fans Take So Long To Come On ,i Let One Of The Fan Turn On Once I Switch The Ignition On (through The Fuses Of Course). Since Then My Coolant Level Is Constant And At Normal Temperature, and The Engine Always Stays Within An Acceptable Operation Temp. I Am Less Concerned About The Heater In Winter. Try It And Save Yourself From Frequent Gasket Blow-ups.
