Decided to replace all my airbags, after I was popping the boat in the water, had it in high profile and had to listen to an agonizing squeak from the rear offside bag - more of a hole than a leak... Thank heavens it stopped when I popped her down to standard again.
Anyhow, are these the ones I need? And they'll last ~8 years am I right?

Yes they are the ones and not to bad to fit as long as you jack up the chassis and support the axle on a jack .Might be a good idea to replace the shocks as well.
Get a fitting kit as well as the clips could be rusty and break when you take them off ,Its surprising how little is holding them in the top one can be fiddly to get back in but doable if you take the splash guards off the front and make up a hook to pull rear top out.you might find it hard to to get the pipes out but get a copy of RAVE and study that, Once you have done one it will be easy to do the others.

IMO Arnott Gen 2's are better than the Dunlops, they have a lifetime warranty and not a lot more expensive. P38 spares do them on Ebay. I can send you a guide to replacing the airbags with photos, PM me with an email address if you want it. Also a good idea to have the EAS software or a kicker available in case it throws a wobbly after you have been jacking it up.
 
Errm right, I've read the Arnott Gen II and III pages, and although they do sound better than the Dunlops, as of yet I can only find them for at least 50% of 100% more the price of the Dunlops, so unless anyone has any other sites...?
Would I be right in thinking that the Dunlops would last at least 6 years? Also, are Dunlops what I have currently (which I presume are the originals, but may be the car's second set)?
 
Dunlops were the OEM.

The Arnott guarantee is only for defects not wear and tear!!
 
Datatek, as I am here to learn, and it's a job I may be doing myself in the not too distant future, in what way are the arnott units better? Are they a better ride or is it down to build quality?

IMO the Arnotts give a slightly better ride, I think the consruction is better and they have a lifetime warranty against defects:)
 
I took 4 hours to do 4 bags first time, front off side is a bugger, I used the hollow jack handle to pop off the top clips, having pulled out the wheel arch liner and chocked it with a small piece of wood. Front base pins are held on by a small bolt which is a bugger if you hadn't noticed it ! Follow Data's guide and you wont go wrong.
 
I fitted Arnotts II last year. all four.
I discussed thei p38 spare aguy on ebay and think they cost me 268 delivered.
the warrentee is simple. If they fail, you take a photo and get a replacement in the post.
 
Are these likely to break on removal?

Theres a good chance the clips will be siezed into the alloy airbag mounts (if alloy spring caps), rusted or they could get bent/broken while removing them, for the small extra cost it saves a lot of grief to fit new clips.


Also Data, have you got an idea of how long replacement of all 4 bags would take (assuming nothing goes wrong)?

This all depends on the amount of equipment that you have available and your mechanical capabilities.

I have all the equipment, with alloy spring caps it took me 2 1/2 hours to change all 4 on mine and I'm a commercial mechanic by trade.

As in jacks, chocks and spanners? I'll anticipate somewhere about 4 hours then.

If the end caps on the old airbags are alloy, allow a day as the rears corrode into the housing and can be a bugger to remove. Plastic ones on can be done in 20 minutes a corner. No need to remove the wheel arch liners at the front on the diesel:)
