Since buying this disco 2 with the lovely basic cloth pattern seats, I don't find it very comfortable, wondering if the leather or half leather are any better?

I think this drivers seat is a little knackered though as there is a creak in the back part which is hard when you lean back and the seat base doesn't seem quite right, feels kind of flat. Funnily enough though, there is not much actual wear on the bolster considering it's got 160k on it.

Also I'm a little shocked at how hard the door card is to rest you right arm on when driving, I know I'm used to Range Rovers but come on Land Rover, did anybody actually sit in this car before it went to production or was he high on drugs? You can't see the speedo properly either due to the steering wheel o_O

The seat has probably seen better days! As for not being able to see the speedo - I agree, it's not great and some sort of compromise between steering wheel position and comfort needs to be reached!

As u say, your comparing a disco with a range, u can't.
With a disco, both the 1 & 2 leather are harder, I've driven a few brand new ones in my time and D2s leather seats are just the same as the D1 but the D2 does have arm rests like the RR.
Modern day cars with leather seats have better support, so no slipping and sliding on bends etc as in the days a the disco 1&2.:)

I've got half leather,, comfy as.
Admittedly I've not driven for hours and hours at a time, but no complaint comfort wise, with a little bit of lumber seems I could spend a far while in there.

I retrofitted full leather to mine, the original cloth ones were very tired and the foam had collapsed on the drivers seat. The replacements are a lot better in my opinion, I drive it to France and back (Via Ferry not with a bloody long snorkel) every year and don't have any comfort problems, not sure what build you are but I'm a six footer with a bit of meat on me.

Well I really don't like the nasty cloth anyway so was leaning towards changing to leather or half leather but was wondering if the base foams are the same anyway on cloth and leather seats. I'm also a big guy, been doing weights for 24 years so I find lots of seats to narrow and not very comfortable. These disco seats don't appear to be narrow It's just as soon as I sit in my drivers seat it feels not quite right and dam right uncomfortable.

I've thought about maybe fitting new seat foams and putting some decent seat covers on. What about the better door cards with the leather interior, do they have more padding where your arm rests on top of the door?

The only difference with the door cards is the covering is a sort of shami leather rather than cloth - don't think it's really going to be much more comfy.

Another thing to consider, if you get full leather seats you'll probably need to retrofit the seat looms to be able to adjust them, they're all driven by motors so are completely unusable otherwise - they're heavy buggers compared to the cloth ones too.

Forgot to say, I had to retrofit looms to mine, but a chap on the D2 Boys Club forum makes them up and flogs them, think it was ~ 50 quid.

Ok well I've now fitted half leather and it is a little better :) Just need to sort the door cards out. Thought about buying some foam backed alcantara and covering the fabric part.
