Hi Folks

I've got a 2002 D2 TD5 with a front metal bumper and winch. It has a second battery in the engine bay on the passenger side against the bulkhead. It has SLS fitted and working, but I am wanting to fit an ARB compressor.

I've looked around. There is no room in the engine bay. I am reluctant to try and squeeze it between the grille and the radiator, even though it was suggested as I don't want any more restrictions on the airflow that gets into the vehicle already.

There is room on the chassis under the driver seat, the outer edge of that. The other side has the SLS in a box. But I was wondering if any problems could be caused by it being mounted there and liquid being ingested into the compressor.

Another place I suppose would be in the boot either in front of or behind the panels. I have got a fair few bits in that area already so the planned usage space would be a bit cramped.

What would you recommend? The compressor is to arm/disarm locking differentials.

Mine is sitting on top of the LHFront wheel arch in the engine bay but it's a D1, I remember having to relocate something to fit it there but don't remember what, nothing significant though and I only run one battery up front, second battery is in rear behind RH wheel arch.

I've looked into a few places and ended up mounting it in the nearside seat well in the boot.

There was already a power feed there and we* moved the bracket for the FT857 further forward and bolted the compressor to a helpfully placed metal bar that also supported some electrical points and was a strong durable mounting.

The compressor sits low down and mostly out of the way. I shall work out a cover to go there in good time that would still allow airflow but also restrict the noise of operation. It is unlikely that I would use it for pumping up tyres as I have an external TMax compressor, which I may modify to be more useful to me.

Because I was previously running some power-hungry devices in the back, the power feed was adequate for the compressor.
