im struggling to source a ARB deluxe bull bar and due to costs of importing from abroad I'm thinking of getting a standard HD winch steel front and rear bumper.

Some crappy ones on eBay and I was wondering what you guys would recommend?

First Four Shadow & TP4x4 are good looking.
First Four Shadow non winch bumper is very short/ minimal effect on the approach angle.

Someone said to me that I need to disable the airbags with hd bumpers however I thought that these go off based on sudden reduction in speed?

are these any good

u should have impact sensors on the front which are part of the airbag system,

ref the activation of airbags, think it's a combination of a G sensor and impact monitors around the landy

Yeah I saw them but not too keen on the tubular look and also the place where they have move the washer reservoir is taken up by my aux battery.

I was looking at this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322429766722

Yeah just hoping they work with my airbag system. Can't seem to find on goggle how they are set up, probably searching wrong.
Quoting from the Disco 2 RAVE,"The SRS system is a stand-alone system. There are no remotely mounted crash sensors. The only external input to the DCU is power. The system only becomes live when the ignition is switched on."
So, there you have it, changing the bumper should have little or no effect.

I have asked the question on another thread about fitting a bull bar type thing, similar to this, which is also in my watching page. I'm under the impression that these aren't technically legal? Can anyone clarify?
This front bumper is cheaper than replacing my headlights ;-)

You can fit one yourself. But you will need to tell your insurance of the change. If you can find one. but you wanted a bull bar to fit the existing plastic bumper not a HD bumper. which is why it was stated it would be difficult to find one as the vehicle manufacturers were not allowed to fit them anymore. So the requirement for bull bars died off.

Cheers

Thanks for explaining :)

My mate's selling a chrome Disco 1 Bullbar if you're interested, very cheap if you can collect it from Doncaster. I have no clue if they fit, but I reckon anything can be fettled to fit anything, just new plates/holes drilling .. ;)
