Hey all, I want to fit Arb lockers front and rear to my defender but I am confused on what I need to purchase to have it all installed and running, Basically do I need the Arb manifold to run both lockers front and rear and which lockers do I need, do I need buy the front and rear switch or do it come with compressor? I'm very confused so if someone please help me and point me out what I need to do that be great.
Usually when you buy the diff centres from ARB you also buy the air kit, that includes the special compact compressor/reciever unit with hoses, a wiring harness and the rocker switches for compressor on, rear diff lock and if required front diff lock. ARB sells these compressors and bits for a pretty inflated price but it depends on how much value you put on your time, it can save a fair bit on installation to buy the ARB gear to go with the diff.
One thing I should mention re these "airlockers", they have a reputation for leaking seals on the air actuation ring in side the diff, do a google search on air lockers, here in Australia, their home, they are called the leaky locker, they can empty the oil from your diff by pressurising it, ARB claim to have improved the sealing but I have seen evidence to the contrary.
You are in UK, why not go with Ashcroft air lockers, the same thing manufactured better, I'm about to order an Ashcroft for my Disco1, my mate has one fitted to his, and his son has a bin full of broken parts from ARB units.
The ashcroft has twice as much engagement area on the movable engagement member as the ARB has. You choose .
