after driving at a steady speed , it seems if i apply the brakes lightly , the car goes faster !!!!

i press a bit more , hear a click , then it starts slowing .

not sure if its my imagination or not .....

sometimes overrun can feel like acceleration I find.. possibly to do with your expectation that the vehicle will slow down... so perhaps when you press the brakes lightly nothing is happening but because you are off the accelerator you feel like you are losing control and so it feels faster

mjltigger .
i'd liken it to dipping the clutch . you know how sometimes you go faster when you do this in a manual car ??

zzr1200 .
its a 1996 4.0se . usa version

good grief...

I read the whole thread 2 days ago, considering that this seems to be a genuine possible major problem, I ordered my kit yesterday 40.00 GBP including postage by airmail.

Hopefully the kit is enroute to the UK from OZ at this moment...

good grief indeed !!!

ive just been out in the car , and the first bit of pedal travel makes a hissing noise .

do you also have this symptom ??
its definately from the pedal area , i will investigate more in the morning ....

The hissing noise I would say is possibly normal (I will ask about the "hissing"), just the fluid under pressure moving through the ABS master cylinder unit, I think its the pedal travel or the click that's the warning.

Below is my post on page 20 of the above thread...

"Hi HSE, having read this thread It appears that my Range could benefit from your mod kit.

My vehicles brake pedal has 3 inches approximately of travel after the vehicle has been left for a few hours, after the first pump and the accompanying click the brake system returns to normal pedal travel.

I own a 1995 2.5 DT Range Rover with 93,000 miles on the clock.

Could you please let me know the availability and price of your kit in UK pounds, I will send payment via Pay-Pal.

Regards

zzr1200 "
