Anything to worry about?? I'm getting a chuffing sound from the engine, its not loud but its noticeable, and wasn't there before, in the vid you can also see air in the diesel line, but I think its meant to have air in it like that (I think) anyway a vid... what do you think? click on the pick for the movie

 
Pipe should not have air in it. As it is constant, i would think you have a problem with the in tank lift pump pickup pipe. Either that or the lift pump is not working and the injector pump is sucking air past the O rings in the inlet outlet of the filter.

Yes replace pressure pipe to MAP sensor. Air is coming directly from filter. Think his problem is either there or in tank pump.

How quickly does the engine start when cranking?? and does it take longer when the fuel is low?? taking longer when the fuel is low is a sign that the in tank pump is on it's way out
 
What they both said .. dunno RR's specifically, but an engine with that much air in the fuel line will never run quite right .. especially at high revs.

It also sounds very like my 300Tdi sounded with an exhaust stud missing, so I'd suggest you also check the exhaust manifold.

Air in system will cause diesel knock.

No its fine.... its a joint, and its nice and tight.... but well spotted though, I have a spear pump, lucky I did the cheat (hole in the floor boot) so its an easy job, but I did it not too long ago, so why its gone already (yet again) I dont know!!
 
Engine starts fine from cold.... I dont have much derv in it right now, so its almost empty, anyone have the part number for the maf pipe? I think I will get a one piece pipe

Cheap replacement ?? You can always go for the faulty sales act 1979 if its less than a year old

No, I thought I had a problem with it, bought a new one, and that wasn't the problem, didn't take it back kept it..... I have changed 5 of them so far, for some reason they dont last on my P38 (in tank ones that is)

Olive rings and pipe ok at pump end ie not sucking in air or leaking
 
John thanks, but last time I got this pipe from ebay, it was so soft, it wouldn't take the pressure, and just came off, so im gona buy from Landy stealer or BMW

Go to local auto-factors and will be able to have a feel of it before you buy??

I was desperate and had no choice but to buy from Halfrauds as it was a Sunday and have had no problems other than it costing far too much!
 
checked for leaks around the FIP?? I posted up piccies when I replaced the seals in mine, it's messy but not that hard of a job :)

That's because there supposed to have miniture spring clips that nobody seems arsed to put on nowadays :rolleyes:
