Looks like there is according to the maps, but I will be doing a little day trip via Evesham and wouldn't mind a couple of short trips off the main roads.

Are there any safe and easy ones to take?

Thanks

Martin

Sorry, don't know!

We stay in Broadway when we go to the Cheltenham Festival but I've never gone laning there!

So, did a quick bit of research, not exhaustive and not necessarily up to date, however, the picture is a screen grab of what Trailwise shows, so yes there are a few UCR's with only one Byway (Just North of Broadway) in that area that are legal to drive. Not having driven them I couldn't say what they're actually like, but the contours, when checked in better detail, show some of them to at least be steepish, but descriptions on Trailwise seem to say mostly decent tracks suitable for Freelanders .. :)

The track with the red arrow pointing to it is a restricted Byway now and has locked gates either end. Sorry I don't know more. Please note, the purple tracks are all restricted Byways, so where they link to a UCR (brown, unclassified road) there may not be a legal way through.

Most of the lanes in the area are UCRs rather than BOATs but I don't really know them well or recently enough to recommend north of Cheltenham.

I could point you to some nice ones a little further south if that's helpful.

That one with the arrow was the one I was wondering about, I used to know this area quite well as I have been all the way from Greet to Broadway off road before around 28 years ago (dumper truck). But since moving to Worcester a bit out of the knowleage.

Looks like the track opposite the pub at the west end of the tunnel is worth a look. Or a loop around Laverton.

I remember also seeing a track behind the pub at Stanton.

I think I also need to renew my GWR membership!!!!!!!!!

The actual Trailwise page says this about it .. whether it's legal or not seems to be a grey area. I'll send an email to the Glass rep and see what he knows about it. Dunno how the formatting will come out as I simply copied and pasted and it looks good on my computer!

user note: Researching this route for motorbike ride but gates chained together at southern end and there is a blue 'Bridleway' sign on the gate post so I'm assuming no longer a right of way for motorised vehicles.

I'll have a look at home, but I know there is an issue of LRO Int. that has some routes around the Cheltenham area, and they're all season lanes. I think it may have been Oct. '14 issue.
I used to live in Mickleton and only know of a small number of lanes that way.
