Seen a 4.6 for sale with LPG but says the LPG needs a new ECU? Is this a ridiculously expensive fix? Is it a do it yourself job? Not scared to get my hands dirty but know nothing about LPG. Seems a cheap buy or should I just stay clear?

You need to know what LPG system is installed to know how much it will cost to fix. My car had a Tartarini system installed when I got it and a new ECU for it was impossible to get as nobody makes them any more.

I replaced the entire front-end system for £300 myself with no prior knowledge of LPG systems and it was easy! LPG systems seem to be thought of as scary things around here but in all honesty they're stupidly simple.

The best site for LPG advice is LPG Forum.

So if I can get it for right price it'b worth a punt? Aparently it's running sweet on petrol just needs LPG sorting.

Here's a link about eGas systems on the LPG forum...

LPG Discussion Forum • View topic - Egas multi point system.

Ask eGas how much a new ECU is and you'll know what you're facing. Of course it might not be the ECU but a split pipe or just a need for a re-calibration....

Either way LPG systems are very simple to work on, even if you need to replace the whole kit as Jacckk says, they're pretty cheap.

Had a quick look at Egas stuff but couldn't find any price for the ECU (chances are though it will be something else). Your best bet is to contact them although they might have different types.

The kit I bought to replace all the front end stuff was £299 including VAT, so worst case scenario is you'll have to spend that much for a working LPG system.

As said. In most cases it's easier just to remove the old front kit and fit new. Look for a good quality kit. Stag do a good one and you can map the ecu yourself. Some suppliers refuse to give you the software to do this but the Stag software is easily available. Egas kits are at the lower end of the quality scale. If you go down the Stag route let me know. I fitted a Stag kit to my old Omega from scratch and have good knowledge on how they work.

You will find a lot of the systems are based on the same Italian system just re-branded to suit. You will need to get the new one mapped after installation.
