Sad I know, but not often you see one these days!

Anyway, on Rhod Gilberts Work Experience Programme this week he was a Butler for Sir Brooke Bothbury (whoever he is) and sure enough, they went out for a days shooting. The vehicle of choice? A trusty K-reg Vogue SE. Lovely:

The whole episode is on iPlayer, Range Rover appearance starts at 16:40 if you're interested: BBC iPlayer - Rhod Gilbert's Work Experience: Series 2: Butler

Proper old money car, I think the p38 is also very much old money but I think it will be the last, new Rangies just seem to be gangsters and footballers.

I saw something in the Range Rover Register mag about a survey that was done on what the best vehicle was to turn up at a shoot in and a Classic came out on top :)

Mine is a jacked up redneck version of that car. The house is similar to mine, too.

Hang on, your's is an LSE too - that is a mere SE!! Nice house ;-)

Interesting, and I can well believe it! I turned up to a very prestigious shoot recently, as a beater rather than a gun, and I noticed several of the head beaters and later on a couple of guns circling the old RR and nodding in approval! :D

Excellent!! :)

The pic in my Avatar is from a Duck shoot in the Severn Valley. A couple of guys turned up in recently purchased Disco 4's and RR Sports and the shoot captain said "we'll use that classic out there, I don't want any of that new rubbish getting stuck down there", they looked offended :) The Disco 4 owner was one of my passengers and spent the rest of the day rather excited by the exhaust note. It was very wet and slimy and we only just made it back up from the river bank at one point. It was before I changed my engine though, so I was rather paranoid about breaking down!

Haha, sounds like fun! Those Disco 4's are hugely impressive offroad, but the tyres on a modern LR are just no good on really slippy mud, no matter how good the electronic aids are!

Do you happen to have a scan of the RR Register mag feature you mentioned?

I saw the Discovery channel a couple of nights ago about the Iranina Embassy Siege and the SAS operation. About 20 mins in they jump in to a white Classic and zoom off... made me feel slightly more macho :)

I agree, i'm sure if the disco had decent tyres on it would have found it much easier than my classic. The other two vehicles we used that day were a disco 1 and a Mitsu L200, both with Insa Turbo mud tyres on, they had less trouble than I did in the end.

It wasn't a feature as such, just a snippet in the news or letters section I think, I'll see if i can find it tonight.

Just watched the program. I particularly liked the trying to shut the top tailgate sequence.

I could really empathise at that point.

Haha, can't we all! I was sat there with the missus saying - corners! Use the corners! What a rubbish design.
