ok, so put £20 doozil in this morning and 6 litres of tescos finest(cheapest ;) 84p/litre) veg oil so looking at around 70/30 mix.

That should be fine-but remember derv(winter derv at the pumps) will wax at around -15c, with 30% veg in there it will be a little higher,-12c say -so if we have a bout of really cold stuff,might want to leave the veg out until it warms up-you can always leave a jam jar of your mix on the drive and just check its liquid in the mornings.
Just for interest derv is not the same all year round-winter derv is predominantly Naptha (makes it thinner)and summer derv has more fuel oil in it-the oil companies adjust it for season-the winter derv has less energy and so you will get less mpg-but they don't charge any less for it do they!
 
Also a lot of Asian supermarkets will sell veg oil for a better price Rapeseed oil (canola in the USA) is the thinnest and best choice
