Hi does anyone know what this is for on the underside of the brake master cylinder on a 300tdi? it seems only the models with abs have it, is it for bleeding maybe?

you may be correct quite a few m/c have bleed nipples on them but they are normally a nipple like you would find on a caliper get some photos from under it

This is a picture of it looking up,seems to have a hex bolt in there. the reason i wanted to know is I need a new master cylinder and this bit seems to be on the abs ones but a breakers near me have one without it.

Its probably so the cylinder can be used on other cars.

it wont be a bleed on the bottom as air goes up

Maybe a drain plug for the fluid - seems a bit random.

Doesn't show it on the exploded diagram in either the manual or Microcat.

Ny guess would be a 'parts bin' fitting that's used for different models and that's a blanking plug in this application ... but that's only a guess!!

It seems odd that only the abs models have it on, will have to ring landrover today and find out if they know lol.
