anyone seen this type of chassis before?are they any good?or is it a home made one?any info appreciated thanks

That looks a deffy chassis, did you post in the right section?
There is a firm that makes series's chassis's with coil sprung axle mounts, if its one of these before you fit it consider that to make it legal you'd need to sva the vehicle, a kind of super mot that you really wouldnt want to bother with, and on a classic may not be that desireable as leafs are a major part of the series.
I'm not saying dont so it though.

it is listed as a series 3 88 inch coil sprung chassis,i have heard of disigna chassis but there ones dont look like this,it is for a series 3 rebuild i am soon going to do
 
It looks homemade I've never seen a landy chassis with the strutting on like that one has.
 
I can't tell you where this chassis came from, however years ago a number of companies offered coil sprung conversion chassis for series 88 and 109s using rangerover (they weren't called classic then) suspension parts. The arrival of the 90 and 110 more or less killed them off.
