Hi Guys,
Have new problem with the td4.
It's a bitch to start when warm. Starts first thing with glowplug light on( bit of smoke ) but say I go for a drive and leave it stood for a few hours, chokes its guts up with smoke and takes a good while to start. This is my first and prob last freelander I will own.
Had it about a month, have changed oil and filters, crankcase breather, glowplugs, bypassed egr, thermostat mod, cleaned inlet and intercooler pipes, did a leak off test and seems to be ok.
Have Delphi diagnostics and no fault codes at all , looks like I'm going to have to bite the bullet and take it to my local Landy specialist.

Id say the smoke is blue/white, when running it doesn't kick any out.

Ive taken the readings of high and low pressure fuel with ignition on and cranking:
Low Ignition - 365 kpa
Low Cranking - 360 kpa
High Ignition - 0
High Cranking - 38847 kph

Idle figures are:
low 360.8 kph
High 28700 kpa

Does anyone know what the figures should be, or have any ideas ?
Many Thanks

starts fine when engine hot, so don't think is cam sensor. Thought it could be turbo seals but no smoke on boost, also read that it could be valve stem seals but not loosing any oil, and apparently very rare for the seals to fail on these. Leak back test was done by removing leak of pipes, clamping return pipe the turning ignition on and looking for diesel in top of injectors. 3rd injector released about a drop, others nothing. Thanks

High and low fuel pressures look good so don't think that's the problem

Get a compression test done to check for any issues in the base engine
