That's just a baby single beak I've got one of those :D
That needs refacing by the look of it from piccies.
Check the note of the anvil with a hammer. All the way along it should have a different note which should ring off just a drop lightly of the hammer and the hammer should feel lively against the surface. If it falls dead it needs refacing :D

I could pick it up and then bring it down as far as Yeovil on the 30th

I got one that's hollowed enough to hold 1/2 pint of water :p

Sacrilege!!!!! I'm cringing at that!
Makes such a difference to have a decent face on it. Just tedious building a new one up.

Trewey, there is an ex navy surplus scrap yard in st Mary Bourne on all the old boats they had a smiths forge. The scrap yard is full of fly presses, anvils, (tanks) and the majority of them are in great nick :)

It's in Hampshire st Mary Bourne. Trying to think of the name of the yard, he's moved up the road from where he was I know that much.
(Not much help to you though as you don't know where he started off ;))

I think it's J Hirst and sons.
Worth a call
One section of the yard was military scrap, the other section which was equally worth a good rummage was a bit more general. But it's not heaps of metal it's useful stuff. And well worth a call, and a day trip :D
I've not been for years but it was great :D

Fookin thing went for TWO HUNDRED quid ffs!

Thanks for the offers of help anyway.

Oo they hold their value massively, I got mine for 150 about 5 years ago, they don't really drop their value at all
I have a second one, which I still have no idea where it came from
I'd have had to have moved it and they aren't subtle
Another chunk of my memory gone
