Cockernee, Pasty munchin bastid.
Don't necessarily need anything collecting, just need to know whether a Company exists and is reputable?
Before I send them £800 of my hard-earned via a route that has no redress if they turn out to be scammers.

I'm only about 20 miles away but know very little about Companies in Ammanford but could ask around to see if any one here knows anything that might be relevant.

They're called
RHT Plant Services
Llwyncelyn Road
Glanaman
Ammanford

The guy breaks mini diggers for parts and advertises on e-bay but won't sell anything of value through e-bay because of the fees. He insists on bank transfer in advance.
At the moment he seems to be the only person in the country who has the part that I need!

Give me a couple of days and I will ask around. A quick 'tour' of google streetview reveals a single track, country road with the usual smattering of quality, residential, country properties along it but it is not a place to find a business of the type you name. It could be that he has a yard in the more 'working' part of the area but does the business from his residential address. I have also had a look on Yell.com (businesses), looking for Plant Services and Breakers around Ammanford and there is nothing there either.

And a look in the local telephone directory does not have a listing either.

Have you asked if you can visit him to see the part before you buy? He might give more info about where the viewing could happen.

If I had a bit more time I'd try to arrange to pick it up in person and pay cash, but it would be a day lost driving up there and back.
He only has +ve feedback on e-bay, but that's mostly as a buyer and selling a few low-value items.
Google finds a few things - again, nothing negative.
I'd just rather have something more "personal" if you know what I mean.

Yes, I understand what you mean. Close to me is a Plant service business but it is a place which seems to deal with the massive forestry type machinery which come on low loaders from all over the country for repair - not quite what you are looking for!! Now I can get personal recommendations for that!!!! I'll ask around though.

Result! My opposite neighbour's son is a good friend of the cousin of that seller and has nothing but good words about him The son has offered to ask any questions directly to the seller on your behalf if you would like him to.

Probably like you, living in such tight-knit rural communities everyone knows everyone else or about them within fifty miles!!

Hope this helps.:)

Great!
I've asked the seller 3 times to send me a pic of the Slew motor that he has for sale. This is so that I can
a) have some degree of confidence that it actually exists and
b) see that it looks the same as mine.

If I saw a pic, then I would hapilly send him the money, but he keeps promising and then nothing.....

any help gratefully received!

I've passed this on so will wait to see if anything happens.

How did this turn out..?

Just bought a part from this guy, but still waiting for the shipment. Problem is... I live in Sweden o_O

It turned out fine in the end. He's a good bloke but a rubbish business man. Best thing is to speak to him on the phone - he doesn't do e-mails or texts very well.
