Are you sure?

So you want somebody you don't know to go and kick this guy up the arris and then take the rap for ABH and for what????

I assume you will not be taking any responsibilty for any of it?

I suggest you remove the guys address and follow the correct procedure.

well, ok, you must be mad about it firstly, but is it an offence to be part of or taking part in something not quite legal.
your best move is the police, report the incident of alledged theft, report it also to EBAY, but get it logged for sure before you end up "answering questions"

look at it from, say, me.
I read your comments, I go knock on his door, guy says WTF you on about, calls the old bill, I`m arrested, then you say -
oh, but it was only a joke...

follow the op above advice PDQ......

hhm,

Id definitely remove the address, sort it out through the proper channels.

If it were me I would drive there myself. But it's not me, it's you and there are proper channels that can be taken.

What has actually happened?

How do you know that it was this guy who robbed him?

Because all items were delivered to his home address which he added to my dads paypal account :scratching_chin:

Then he is either real thicko, or he knows people won't chase it up. Maybe the the address isn't genuine, the name isn't genuine etc. Have you checked google maps on that address? Have you checked facebook and alike? Have you actually contacted the police?

On a separate note, I would try to educate your Dad on the perils of spoof emails and phishing. Also, get him to change all his passwords to something a little stronger. I have seen this sort of thing many times where people either leave things with a default password or use a password that is easily hackable, like Yourname69 etc. And they also respond to emails from PayPal saying their account it about to expire and alike. I suppose it's easy in hindsight to see all this.

What's stopping you from knocking on this blokes door? If someone did that to me I wouldn't think twice about driving a couple hundred miles to have a word in his ear.

Theft is theft and that tends to be illegal in this country so best to offer the job to a Policeman Officer.

If they then don't do anything, collate as much evidence as possible and then present it to a policeman officer who then might just get off his lardy donut filled rear and arrest said miscreant.

If you need an address check then there are plenty of folks around who would be happy to pop by and confirm it's not just a builders yard.
