Let me know if anyone has done business with them or knows of them. I am looking for a classic 110 at a good price that I can export to my brother so it has to be 1983-87.

Also, let me know where you would recommend to find a 110 83-87, your experience and the price/condition if you bought one of these model years from them. Also I dont care where they are, I will go nationwide for the right condition 110 at the right price.

Cheers!

Also this is my first post!

Thanks for the welcome. So what do you say? Who is the most reputable on price and product for a 83-87 110?

Hi there, thats where i brought my 90 from last year, I found that some of his land rovers were a bit pricey, but i was happy with the one i brought, not had to many problems with it but did have a few at first which i had to sort. He was not easy to find though, but was a nice guy to work with and to chat too with a good selection of 110's.

Good to hear. What specs did your truck have (motor & tranny) and how much did you pay? Were you able to talk him down a bit on that price? Oh and post a pic or two to check her out!

Same as Jamie90. Most of his Land Rover's are on the pricey side and when I was there most had been "tarted up" i.e. given a full re-paint and looked the business, what they were like mechanically I don't know since I only went to view one that was within budget.

The only issue other than wear-and-tear on the 110 I got was it developed a water leak from the P-gasket around the water pump but to be honest not a massive job. Just awkward. Since then the gearbox has been developing the common early R380 issues (nearly always have to double de-clutch 5th to 4th now) but I have put 30,000 hard miles onto it in 18 months. When funds / time permit will either get a new box from Ashcrofts or may re-con it myself, haven't quite decided yet.

THe problem you've got is that most specialist dealers are aware of the demand for 25 year old Land Rovers from across the Atlantic and therefore will charge a premium for good ones.

Apart from the obvious ones i.e. Nene; Foley ;Liveridge etc there are some who have a good reputation such as Land Rover Defenders quality used land rover 90, 110 and 130 models

I suggest giving them a call as he rarely has all his stock advertised.

BTW, how bizarre - I inserted the URL as a hyperlink as normal and it changed to the above?

Hi there, its a 1986 csw 90, it had been converted with a 200tdi and lt77 box (originally 2.5 na), had a 2" lift, Rock sliders, BFG mud terrains tyres. It was advertised £3800, i got it down to £3400, came with 11 months Mot. I will have a root round for some photos, but its the one in my Siggy. :welcome2:

@Jaime90... Thanks for the reply truck looks pretty nice even in the small pics! How long ago did you buy the truck from him? His prices are even higher now! He wants £5000 ++ for 110's with 200tdi! Check out his site but I think that is a bit much. He gave the excuse that the prices have gone up over the last year...

@Tazz... I have seen that shop before but never thought about them because they only have commercial landy for sale. I send him an email and see if he has any in stock at a good deal...

Yeah thanks, the truck is nice, I brought mine last November 2010, but yeah £5000+ is a lot for a 200tdi 110, in general 110's should be cheaper than a 90, I see what you mean about the increase of prices.

Since when? 110's have always been more valuable whenever I've looked.

Perhaps if you're looking at the "scrap" side of the market then possibly but a half-decent 110 will usually fetch more than a top-notch 90 because they're so much more practical and (in my opinion at least) a far better vehicle.

Dont get me wrong, i like 110's aswell, but when i look on fleabay, i find that early 90's fetch more money than early 110's.

don't buy anything from that shower of cowboy MoFu.

I stupidly bought a 110 from Mark. Rust holes had been covered in gaffa tape and sprayed with waxoil in several places, engine was sold as 4.6 but is a 3.9, LPG system leaked, and a whole host of other things wrong with it. I put my hands up as it was my fault for not checking it over with. He was informed legally when I bought it but can't do anything legally as I have no money at the moment.

I seriously doubt how well it was MOT'd as well - done at a place called hilltop service station

POAH I had similar bad experience with Mark

I recently went to look at a 110 double cab defender. The body work was straight as was the chassis so mechanically it seemed in pretty good condition for the price, albeit slightly high on mileage at 71k for an 05 plate.

It was only on asking for a test drive that things started to go wrong. The Defender wouldn't start. I was told this was because it had been garaged and the battery had run flat. Assurance that a high performance battery was fitted and only needed 60 miles of recharging to make it good again was reiterated when it failed to start a seond time after test drive. 2 days later I have had to replace the battery at my cost (so far).

The fuel gauge read erroneously which I was told about - but was assured it was common on all TD5 engines and to not to run the tank down to below a quarter as a solution!

Despite the faults the owner would not drop the price - instead including a 3 month warranty which in a conversation prior to looking at the 110 I was told was included in the price.

Unless you know what you're looking for and are mechanically minded avoid these people as they will try and rip you off. The service and attitude are both appauling.
