Jeeze, give us a clue as to what you are trying to do/fix/get through MOT and someone might help.

Also I can confirm no one will help you if you just waltz onto the forum and start demanding people contact you regarding help with not so much as an introduction.

Understood, I have a Defender 3.9 V8 in that Im trying to register in Portugal, Ive been going back and forth with the portuguese registry office and they have never heard of a 3.9 V8 defender and are giving me a hard time. Basically they are now asking for a special confirmation from an MOT station in the UK that the model exists, so Im looking for someone who would be willing to take theirs to an MOT station and get them to do this? A contact have mine has spoken to a station he knows who can do it, I will happilly compensate them for their time and help.

As for an introduction Im a Land Rover Enthusiast in Portugal & Spain who builds & sells custom 4x4's and classic cars.

Right OK. Now we can offer some help.

So my first question is what age is your Defender, from 1990 to 1995 the Land Rover V8 was the 3.9 then from 1995 it was 4.0 although the displacement was the same they re-branded it so they could tell them apart. So could your's technically be listed as the 4.0, do they have 4.0 on their system?

But basically the Portuguese authorities must be a bit daft if they cannot find a V8 defender on their system.

The MoT station is not going to give you anything helpful, they test vehicles and have no official way to certify anything. If you need this paper work you would be better asking Land Rover for a vehicle build schedule from your VIN which they will provide - they may charge now.

Do you have the equivalent of our V5 vehicle log book? It should say 3946cc or something, which is 3.9/4.0 V8.

Its a 1986 90, trust me the extent of their daftness knows no limit.

A friend of mine has a good contact with an MOT station who can prepare the document thats needed I just need a Defender with a 3.9 V8 to go there.

I tried land rover but they can only give the original doc of the car which had a 2.5 TD engine.

I'm in the Algarve and currently matriculating a 101 all paper work done just inspection in Portimao to do.

If your 90 is modified with a different type\size of engine it will not conform.

Is it on an export paperwork?

Mot info from UK is a waste of time.

If you build\customise 4x4 in Portugal you should already know this.

My agent got all she needed from Fiaal the main dealer in Faro for 200€ the paperwork has to have the same type of silver sticker that is on the equivalent Portuguese mot certificate supplied by the authorities here nothing else will do.They asked for photos of VIN plate, engine number and tyre size. The cost of matriculation as a private vehicle was 14,000€ but we did it as a commercial as it only is a 2 seater therefore zero emmision tax

Therein lies your issue, you didn't say it was modified.

Why do you need a Defender 3.9 V8 to attend a MoT station for your Defender to get documentation? Tell us what the aim is here. We don't know what you are trying to achieve by getting another Defender V8 to go to an MoT station.

He says he builds and sells 4x4 custom vehicles in Portugal so must have been to the inspection centre?which is not your local garage.A lift kit is a fail here! or lowering a road car as well, snorkels a fail if not a manufacturer supplied, winch bumpers is now on the list I believe.
If the vehicle is not in your name you can't matriculate it the list goes on and on!
The guys in the centre are not stupid their fully computerised systems don't recognise non Portuguese supplied VIN numbers that's why you have to pay for the main dealer to supply YOU with the information YOU need to matriculate YOUR vehicle.
But a builder and seller of cars here will know that....

Guys, its very simple, Im sure you all know your stuff but what I need is someone with a V8 90 to go to a specific MOT Station in Southern England and pass the MOT, Ive already arranged everything with the MOT station. In exchange for helping me out I am more than happy to pay fairly for their time.

Why do I need this? Its the only way to get my car registered in Portugal.

Anyone who can help please contact me, thanks!

And to the rest of you with you snide comments, find something better to do with your time ;)

For somebody that is new to this forum with just five posts (including this one), and who has asked for "unusual" help to say the least, you are seriously failing the attitude test at this point.
An MOT on a vehicle in the UK so that you can register a completely different vehicle in another country is pure nonsense, has no relevance in terms of the inspection or paperwork, and smacks of some kind of fiddle to me. I wonder what VOSA would have to say regarding the specific MOT station having anything to do with this? Just saying!

I think you have missed something there. What you are actually saying is that you want someone to go and pass an MOT, and give you the Certificate.

That is a slightly different request. And probably a pretty dodgy one, and possibly illegal.

Arent you an entertaining bunch? There is no fiddle, no dodgy. MOT Station inspects the Defender as a similar one to my one, confirms that it can be given an MOT in Uk and is Valid, I then present this document to the portuguese authorities and they allow me to register my car. Simple, not illegal, not fiddling so again, if anyone can help please message me. Thank you!

My amount of posts are irrelevant, Im asking for help and willing to pay the person who helps me, kindly stop trying to make it out to be something it isnt.

I dont need the original certificate, a copy will suffice.

A bit of advice to some of you: try to talk to me and everyone else in the forum as if we were sitting in front of each other and not hiding behind a computer screen ;)
