Am converting my suspension to allow me to run dual shocks on my back axle. I'll be running standard shocks with 2" lifted springs, so I need to reposition the mounts.

Has anyone got a set of standard shocks - two fronts and two rears - that they no longer need? Completely worn out Britparts would be fine; they don't need to be in working order as long as they extend and compress fully so I can use them to set up my geometry. The truck's a long way from being on the road and will get some good shockers before that point, but I'd like to make sure the mounts are all fitted in the right place!

Im near Wolverhampton so not a million miles.

What model do you need them off?
I've got a full set of knackered genuine shocks off a defender 110, but I definitely cut one of the nut threads off. I'll dig em out tomorrow and post a pic, see if they're any use to you
 
They sound like what I'm after - for my own learning, are they the same as Disco / 90 shocks?
 
Couldn't tell you, I think disco 1 and rrc are the same. Ninety/one ten are different part numbers to 200/300tdi defenders and td5 are different numbers again. Dimensions wise im guessing all pre defenders and defenders would be extremely similar if not the same. Want me to put a tape measure along em fully extended and fully compressed?

Just out of interest what does a twin rear shocker setup do?

And can you post photos of your build, sounds ace!
 
Hi, sorry for the abrupt silence - was away for the weekend and then life took over. If you're able to post, that would be great - would Paypal be OK?

Flat, a dual shock setup is good for situations where a single shock would be overworked. Done properly, it avoids the shocks overheating and failing prematurely. My installation will be hampered by running with two standard shocks, so it will be overdamped. However, the hospital who will receive this truck do manage to overheat their shocks fairly regularly, at which point the shock oil goes thin and the damper becomes less effective. It's possible that we could swap overheated shocks onto this truck and, by using twice as many of them, still get effective damping.

The truck's been in build a long while - see attached taken mid-way through last year.
