Hello Folks,

Just driving down the motorway and heard a bang. I noticed the passengers left hand rear window dropped all the way down!

I've removed the motor, and the part that is attached to the window bracket has broken away. I need a picture to see how it's connected so I can bodge it up. I need to know where the part on the cable fits onto the bracket

I don't want to take the motor off the other door as I'll break more fixings

Any help will be great. Thanks

When my cable broke I cut a V into a piece of wooden batten and used it to hold the window in place, duck tape round the door frame and top of the glass will also hold the glass in place until you get the new cable kit. There's also a how to change the cables on you tube which shows what your looking for.

As Nick says..prop it up for now.

The cable kits come complete with the plastic fittings etc. (Except the tailgate kit 'cos the window is clamped differently) and will cost around £10-£15 off Ebay.
TIP...Don't buy the cable inner kits where you have to use your old cable outers and "Glue" the nipples onto the cable..they are a waste of time.

I have repaired a couple of windows on my F/L using the kits and have not had any problems. Be sure to grease the cables etc. when rebuilding.

Thanks for the reply. The cable is fine and it all works. The part which slides up and down the channel is ok, it's the black plastic part which pushes the slider up which has broken away. I can't see where it clipped into so it can be repaired.

The window is electric the you tube clip I'm sure is for a manual window

I think I'll have to buy a new unit of flea bay for about £40 :(

Hi Quattros

Mine just popped too so i ordered the kit of the bay

did you change the plastic door liner when fixing yours ?
If so where did you get it ?

thanks

Hello Digby. If you're talking about the thin plastic membrane no I didn't. When you put the new cable in it has to be very tight. It took 2 of us to put the tension on. There is a clip on you tube but he makes it look easy!! When you fit the mechanism back in, test it before you put the casing back on. This is how I found out it wasn't tight enough.
