Hi all, after weeks, probably months I have failed to find another decent Auto Mark 1 Freelander, so I have decided to keep my 2003 Serengeti and hopefully have it transformed into a really nice Mark 1 with a HSE interior and front and rear bumper with lights. Only problem is I am too decrepit to do it myself. So if someone wants to earn themselves some Cash let me know. I don"t mind bringing the car to you and leaving it then get the train back home. Hope 2 to 3 weeks should be long enough. Anyone interested????????

Tricky one. I can see what you want to do but there are 2 problems which is why no one is running to help I guess.

1. HSE interior in perfect condition is very rare and the only way I got one was to buy a rusted low mileage vehicle, again rare.

2. Facelift conversion requires bodywork, cutting the headlight mounts and fabricating mounting plates. Also paintwork for bumpers and the acquisition of a set of good bumpers that have not been torn off by a scrappy.

All clips, brackets and screws are required and then the wiring modifications which means new connectors and adaption for H4 bulbs with seperate lamps and wiring to make them come on together which is different to the pre facelift.

It's not huge work but very skilled and obtaining the parts is very difficult.

Swapping seats is simple if you can find a good set. Bumper and light change is not.

if running to help is a paying concern...
3 weeks... so 15 days labour (at £150 per day) is £2,250
plus parts to be supplied but let's say another £2,500 if the "helper" has to find the parts...

Let's round it off to £5k for mates rates...

So when you say "earn themselves some cash" - did you mean more (or less) than the above...?

A "more" figure might encourage someone...?

Excuse my stupidity but I wasn"t looking to pay that much because I didn"t expect the parts to be that hard to find. So it looks like I"m going to have to keep on looking for another 4x4 that is as good as my old Freelander.
Cheers the both of you.
