So you want to know how to get it running first time with new distributor or is there other issues?

if the carbs came off a running engine, would at least expect them to run, you have gone from 3.5efi to 3.5 carb or you have a 3.9?

no idea and no time-not a winning combination:rolleyes:

but sure it's not unsolvable

its a 3.5 V8 that was a EFI but the EFI was fooked so ive put carbs on.getting the engine running is the last part of my re build and all i want now is for it to be on the orad so i can use it

so
choke cable, throttle cable, pressure regulator (filter king or similar)

What's the issue, half a day

Shame ur too far away and I dont know Fook all lol, otherwise I would love to help!

Its the thought that counts:D

how about a few pictures, we can then see what's got to be done

ive had a few hours on it today and got it sort of going as its spluttering and farting. i thing its doing that as one of the carbs seems to be either over fueling or fuel is coming back from the fuel return as i can seen fuel poring down the carb.

Hi ,

Just a thought, is the fuel pump the same on the EFI to carb? I wouldn't be surprised if it is too powerful.

I live too far to help but I do have a factory fit V8 if you need me to look at anything for comparison.

ive got a normal fuel pump that's fitted to carbs engines. i think its somthing to do with either the float sticking or the lengh and size of the spill of pipes.

as I suggested before unless you have swapped the efi pump for a carb model pump then you will have too much pressure-a filter king will allow you to adjust the pressure correctly

ive got the correct pump fitted as ive got one from a 3.5 carb RRC and ive took of the EFI pump.

Ok, so you have the correct pump.

The pump is supposed to overfuel with the excess travelling back to the tank through the return pipe (which should be a narrower bore than the supply pipe to maintain pressure at the carbs).

If the float is sticking, you will either get no fuel to the needle or you will get fuel coming out of the overflow pipe. What do you mean when you say there is petrol poring down the carb. Do you mean down the outside or down the throat?

Cheers

Chris

Fuel is poring down the throat on the left hand carb. When i get chance i will get some pictures sorted but again im busy at work, as im a phase 1 Army Recruit instructor and working 15Hr days. but at least i have signs of life and its more than i got from the engine when it was EFI, and i think its just a case of time that is needed to work on it now.

Fuel is poring down the throat on the left hand carb. .

Not strictly important in this instance but just for the record, are we talking SU or Stromberg?

Can you confirm fuel is not coming out of the overflow?

If you have the ignition on with the pump pumping but the engine not running, is fuel entering the carb throat now or is it only when the engine is running?

Can you see where the fuel is entering the carb throat? Is it for instance through the jet?

Sorry for all the questions but there is a purpose in asking!!!

Cheers

Chris
