Afternoon all,
Found this along with egr unit between the front seats of my 300tdi. Any clue what it is? Got me stumped even after googling the part numbers.
Cheers.
There's two of them attached to some pretty big heatsinks based on my limited knowledge. My landy is 24v and there is power supply board between it and egr box. Something to do with stepping down to 12v maybe?
wonder if it's a thermistor
Nope, it's not a thermistor.
A thermistor is essentially a two terminal device; a resistor which has a resistance value which can change in a predictable manner with temperature.
That device shown in you picture is an active semiconductor device much like a transistor which can control a voltage output depending on the external circuit conditions. That particular device can handle a current of 3 amps and if the input voltage is say +12 volts, then the circuit can be arranged to make it provide a steady output of any output voltage up to almost the input. A good system would be to use that device to make a steady 5 volts out of the 12 volts, for instance.
Part number ERR6233 is the Diesel EGR Electronic Control Unit for the 300tdi
when i saw the whole pic , the title gave it away, lol
do these also get removed and egr blanked off trying to think if these were the eu3 engines
So, I had it right first time, basic electric motor control, except that I didn't get that the motors were driving the EGR valves.
In all fairness, the OP just showed a picture of the voltage regulator and asked what it was.
