U have lost me now
Read the Bus System document I attached - it will explain the roles the various ECUs on each databus does.

The Early L322 used various databuses to shuttle information and commands around the various systems.

As a for instance, the I Bus is the Infotainment system bus, the K Bus is mostly body and secure vehicle information, the P bus is vehicle peripherals, M is the HEVAC system. the CAN (Controller Area Network) bus is used to tie the Engine, Gearbox, ABS etc system together.....

Each works independantly of eachother, but in order for the diagnostic system to communicate they all interface at the IKE (Instrument Pack). The LCM which acts as the I/K bus master, provides the operating voltage and wake up signals for the other ECUs on the bus, if this fails the role then reverts to one ofthe stand by units (like the IKE). If you swap out the LCM, it *may* cure the fault and you will be none the wiser, but the LCM also logs vehicle specific information such as VIN, Mileage, Model, Build year, Specifications etc....so whilst your fault message my disappear, the unit is still not working correctly.

So it will need to go to a land Rover garage to take the information off my one and put it in this one. Or wat about thees fellas that come out with the computers can they do it.

Anyone with decent Land Rover based diagnostics (Testbook, Faultmate Extreme, Autologic, some Sanp-on stuff and others) can read and store the original LCM information, the n write this back the replacement LCM.

I was battling with system failures and changed the LCM for a replacement just to test things out. As the replacement unit wasn't specific to my vehicle, I got some bulb failure messages, and also, my fog lights wouldn't work!

Replaced the original LCM and all was back to normal.

You are saying you currently getting a bulb failure message, this may be caused by a dodgy bulb, dodgy connection, dodgy wiring to the LCM, dodgy LCM connection, or a fault in the LCM itself. You have said the bulb is fine, the connection is fine, the connections to the LCM are fine, the wiring thereto checks out....and are now going to see if a replacement LCM will cure the issue....

What I am saying is, replacing the LCM may clear the bulb failure warning, but cause other issues, such as mine above i.e. no foglights. Or, it could still show the same bulb failure warning (plus others) but not because the LCM is duff, or that there is further issue - it could just be because the LCM is not coded correctly for the vehicle - so don't be surprised if you do get further issues.

The only way to properly tell if it is your current LCM at fault, is to properly code a replacement to your car and then see if the failure message disappears.....else you could be chasing your tail - 'is it the replacement LCM, is it the coding is wrong, is there indeed a wiring fault, bulb fault or connector fault?' we still wouldn't know as the only thing we could determine for definite is that the LCM is not programmed to your car - and this could cause more problems in fault finding than it can cure!

You may get lucky and the failure message disappears, you still have full functionality of all the lights and etc meaning the replacement LCM is doing the biz, but the vehicle records it stores will be wrong....so whilst on the outside you will never know the difference, if you plug it in and interrogate the LCM stored vehicle information it will be incorrect - mileage included.

A update on my message problem. Fitted the new well second hand one. And it came up with a number plate light problem. So had a look at the bulbs and the last owner had put l.e.d ones in. charged thees . And all's well fingers crossed. No bonging. No messages.laffin am happy with me self. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction chap's. Just Abit miffed why it didn't bring my number plate light problem up on my own one.??.

Glad it fixed your bulb error messages - but don't forget, it still holds incorrect vehicle information, mileage etc.

Arr but I don't really see that do I . I've fixed my car by myself. Well with a little help from my new friends
It's not 'fixed' it now no longer displays the erroneous bulb failure message - the LCM still doesn't match the car though....

Are we talking landrover or the starship fûcking enterprise!! They sound more like laptops every day:eek:

Looks fixed to me✌

Are you being quite serious? Just asking, in case you are just on a mickey take. If you're on a mickey take, well done, it worked. You conned some really nice, helpful , people into to giving their time and energy to help you.
If you're not on a mickey take, try listening to those who have given their time trying to help you.
Either way, you are not a winner in this scenario.

Narr no Mick take. Made up u lads have pointed me in the right direction. I've taken it out. Down the motoway with no probs. And nothing so to mw thats fixed I understand if u scan it miles ECT r different but am not planning on selling it.

Why don’t yu try refitting your old one, to see if the faults are now cleared.
Shirley that would be betterer
