I’m restoring my Def 90 200tdi and I have replaced the chassis wiring loom with a new one from AutoSparks.

Nothing wrong with the loom, my query is what is this wire for? It is separate / branches from the loom as it exits the chassis in the engine bay.
I have the old loom but has been so heavily “modified “ there is no clue there. The wire is Black with Blue trace and looking at the wiring diagram I can’t see that colour anywhere.

any ideas?

Where in the engine bay exactly, Tirran?
Looms are pretty generic. ie the same loom is made up for different models. This means that there will be connections that are needed for some models, but not yours. I've got a wire and connector that hangs down from behind my rear cross member. I think it's for the fuel pump on the V8 petrol model, but mine's a 300Tdi

Thanks guys, to answer AL203, the loom exits the chassis through a large hole into the engine bay at the bulkhead.
Having looked again at the old loom, this wire has been “repaired” and has a female spade connection which makes me think it must have been in use.
Scooby22, the car never had a tachometer however, I wonder why it would be part of the chassis loom which goes directly to the rear crossmember !
I”ll build on and at some point it will become obvious, I hope.
