got shox and springs turrets and rings, and wanting to replace all related parts, ie spring seats and other bits and bobs,anybody give me a lttle list of extras ill ned to make job easier,its a 300tdi disco,1996,also been told dont need to correct casstor angle at that height? any assistance much apreciated,but dont get technical as im a virgin!!!!also i was considering doubling up the front shox as i have a husky winch which will add consierable weight along with the bumper,but i seem to be finding it hard to get a suitable bumper as the bolt pattern is different than most that i have come across,i am thinking of geting rid of the husky and getting a more run of the mill winch and bumper package, so any interest or advice will help.

You need to replace the brake hoses with +2" extended ones or you run the risk of the original ones getting ripped off under full articulation.

you might get away without correcting the caster and trailing arms, but you can get caster correction bushes which is cheaper than getting new arms

any dea of pricerange of bushes for castor correction also how about if i got adventurous and fitted the 2 inch kit and then added the plus 2 inch spacers and the castor bushes of course. would that be feasible?(and reliable).???

WHY????

What size tyres are you planning on fitting?

At +4" you'll definately be needing cranked trailing arms & Castor correction Radius arms, plus probably wide angle UJ's on props etc... Oh and you'll be able to stick an H.M.S. sticker in front of the Discovery one you already have on the car... boat... car... errr!

With a 2 inch lift it is not set in stone that you will or won't need castor correction. If you find that you do then modded swivels or a re-jigged front axle casing are the best wasys to go. Bushes wear out and the cranked arms bring their own problems.

You do not need to double up front shocks to carry a winch. Shocks will not help with load carrying, they are there to dampen the oscillation of the springs. A 220lb/ft spring on the front of a Tdi Discovery will be stiff enough to carry a winch and still give about a 2 inch lift. The rears also depend on what load you are going to carry.

Extended flexible brake pipes are a good idea, but really only need if you have improved the articulation. If you go this far then get stainless steel braided pipes. They will not need replacing and improve your brake pedal effort as a handy side effect

First things first tho. Fit the lift kit and see what it drives like. IME all LRs are different and react differently to lifts and some drivers feel more differences than others.

4x4Wire - Land Rover Discovery OME Spring and Shock Install

My 2" lift brought with it very slight vibes from the front end, fitted a 'double cardon' propshaft and now all is well. BTW some Disco's have a 'damper' on the front axle (looks like a cast iron wheel next to the diff). Taking this off can also bring vibes as well, I tried it after fitting a QT diff guard and had to modify (read grind a bit off) the guard to get the damper back on.
