Hi all - I bought a Dakar 4x4 a few years ago (a first generation / original ‘Barry’ kit, we believe!) and love it! Are there any owners here, maybe close / local to Bedfordshire?

I’m really keen to have a look at a Dakar with the hard door kit fitted so I can work out how to fit mine..finding other owners local to me would be great also! :)

Thanks for the welcomes, Shimsteriom and brianp38dse - looking forward to engaging with members! :)

Knappster - thanks. I’ve always liked them since a friend borrowed one many years ago. This one just came up for sale at the right time. It needs some work, but hey - it’s a Land Rover - show me one that doesn’t!

Not me but my mate does. It’s a total hooligan car, I love it

he doesn’t have doors though :(

Thanks flat - good to know ive found one other (indirect) owner so far. Im sure there are more though, either direct or indirect! The search, and hope, continues...

The storms (at least in my area) last night - and wind continuing this morning - remind me why a Dakar without doors is FAR from an all-weather car. All terrain? Absolutely. All weather? Not at the moment.. ha.

Been considering the kit myself for a P38 I’ve got. Could be interesting lol

Do it, P38-DFX! I know the kits fit a Discovery or classic RR - not sure about a P38, but with 'a little' engineering, anything is possible. A P38 Dakar would be something id like to see!

I’m sure I could doctor it to fit the Range Rover. They’re not all that different in dimensions. Would be fun with the working air suspension lol

this is a project I could follow - let us know if you decide to do the conversion!
