Hi There

I'm in the process of researching which type of Freelander I should buy - as I really haven't got a clue! I kind of like the idea of a 'Td4' . . .BUT . . . to be honest, that's only because one of my friends said their brother got really good Mpg out of one - and they sound cool!

The reason I'm changing to a Landy is that I plan to be driving up north from 'down south' once a month or so. Other than that, my drive to work each day is about 6 miles in total, so fuel consumptin isnt really a desperately high priority . . . I'm just interested in getting the best car I can for the money - which is going to be about £3500.

Today I saw a couple of petrol engine ones which looked quite nice - a 1.8 GS and a 1.8 S.

Any advice from those in the know will be gratefully appreciated. Thank you

dont buy a petrol freelander unless yu are recovering from a frontal labotomy.

they are the crappiest motor of all crappy motors. Go for a TD4 if you have to have one. Betta still, get a Disco.

oh - and :welcome: to Looneyzone.

I drive my FL 1 (Petrol) to Cardiff from Kent on a semi regular basis and it always feels like an adventure rather than just a journey (will it get there?) and i'm ok with this - perhaps this makes me odd. I do have a point and it is that my partners VW Passat is built for the motorway and is so much better at this than most LR's, I suspect.:)
