Hi All .
I am thinking to buy land rover discovery 2017 HSE Diesel sport , 55.000 Miles on the clock one previous owner 7 seater , I always drove volvo xc 90 2006 and then 2011 , SO I have no clue about land rover . Also please advice is it worth taking RAC extended warranty and minor damage protection ?
Many Thanks

Don't buy an ingenium diesel unless you're doing mega mileage. It will just choke itself up or dilute the oil due to all the fancy exhaust treatment systems. Petrols command a premium though

Over and above engines, discovery sports are generally a bit shìt by all accounts. Chap at work has one and hes had nothing but problems (non start, random cut out, electrical issue that he cant get solved) so extended warranty would be a very good idea imo

From the little I have read/heard, I would avoid.

Bloke at work son had/has one, always something.

Most warranties are not worth the paper they are written on, plus if you need a warranty to pay for unexpected costs, then I politely sugget LR is not the brand for you, that is not meant as an insult, they really do take a bit of a masochist to own/run one.

Thank you for your advice, could anyone suggest a good 7 seater, either from Land Rover or any other car brands.

I know someone with a Disco' Sport and he loves it. Pretty well equiped and does everything he needs and wants of it.
Plenty of room in the second row seats but really only for children in the rear most.
He had a gearbox issue which was software related and sorted under warranty.
Given that, as others have suggested definitely get an inspection and the best warranty you can.
Known issues with the Ingenium engine and I think on early models there has been problems with the mounting bolts for the power steering motor.
You pays your money, takes your choice and cross your fingers.
