Hi I'm looking for some advice on buying a disco, I'm going to look at 98 2.0tdi hse LPG coverted? All I'm wondering is what are the normal things I should check on it and what warning signs are there to walk away from it? I know abit about cars but I don't know about discos

First thing is to run from LPG.:eek::eek: Go for a diesel less problems and will last a lot longer:D:D

You mean the MPi, that piece of **** will **** you off to no ends


In fact I've not seen a single one posted in the disco thread, most are either dead or the owners to embarrassed to show their faces
 
Thanks trapper, I have wondered about LPG and loss off power or nackering something up but he's said duel fuel if there's such a thing???

Sort of, a petro switched to lpg= dual fuel. not a good choice. problems

over heating
swicth over from one fuel to other - more parts to fail
over heating = head gasket job

Spend a little more now on a diesel, and save some of money later. Diesel get more MPG than petro or LPG. The saving could pay for a holiday?:D:D
 
Yer it's small dr evil but there is enough parts out there to make it bigger, I'm running a 4.0 in line 6 at the moment in another shed of a 4x4, and it's killing me in fuel costs,

Anyway back to discos what should I look for when buy one??
 
what is your amount of money you can spend? This will help answer your questions. How good are you with spanners and a welder? and do you have a place to work on it or is it outside?

Or have I missed some engine evolution or has it been swapped ?






No diesel as far as I'm aware will run on LPG, as of 1998 the year of my disco the 300tdi was the engine out and its a 2.5L

Dual fuel could be veg oil if its diesel but thats about it
 
I've got about a grand or so,(depending on what I can sell shed for) I can strip and rebuild if I had the tools and space, welding havn't done in years since when I lived with my dads, and I need one on the road Monday to Friday for work
 
I'd avoid it then if he's trying to do you, just leave it and find a 200tdi as they're good in disco's

Drove a manual one that was nice

Short notice to find something that quick good luck?
 
I'm thinking about leaving it, but I need one before winter kicks in and I miss all the fun, and my shed aka a **** is on it's last legs as I really don't care about it and I really don't want a freelander again
