Hi landy lovers, whats the best antifreeze to use in a 200tdi? I think this might have been asked before but I can't see how you search for posts.

I use any Ethylene Glycol based antifreeze and summer coolant complying with BS 6580 (blue stuff). I'm sure there are more exotic 'waterless' products out there. Don't use OAT based antifreeze (Pink stuff), it affects some of the seals apparently.

Non-OAT ethylene glycol, usually blue or green in colour, but don’t rely on the colour alone. Some say you can use any coolant, but just better to use what is recommended.

The previous owner had put red stuff in my 200tdi, so probably OAT technology, the oil cooler and rad imploded together within six months of ownership, this may have just been a coincidence, but I stick to non-OAT blue stuff.

Cheapest blue glycol stuff you can get mixed 50/50 with water will do just fine.

I would like to say I knew that, but in reality i only got told it by another LZ member a few months ago.
After making the assumption I stopped of at my local Land Rover specialist to order parts and confirm the problem, yes this is the weep hole and it is due the the water pump. Now have the fun job of replacing it this weekend myself. Haven’t tried this before but I’m sure it will be a learning experience seems a lot needs to come out to access the water pump itself so will also be replacing other old parts when putting back together.

So what anitfreeze did they put in?

TD5 engine requires pink OAT Antifreeze at 50/50 mix which lasts 5 years, I use Halfords, do not use blue antifreeze in a TD5.
