Anyone ever opened up an anti burst door handle? Mine doesn't close anymore;
The bit with the U-shaped cutout should come down in two steps. First step to close the door and the second step so you can lock the door with a key or the little switch from inside.
Is there a spring loose? Any help is very welcome

First thing to do is make sure the striker plate dosnt need adjusting. My doors need a good slam with hand pressure near the lock. I can slam them shut without keeping my hand behind the handle but they just miss the second latching position and wont lock with the key or button.
I live with this coz they are very tight on the rubbers but waterproof. Oh and Im too bone idle to adjust them. :D

Its worse now because I fitted new doortops and as these seal by leaning into the rubber seals further than the door itself. In my experience once you start adjusting the striker plate it can take several attempts to get the correct compromise between easily closeable and watertight.

Thanks for the reply. You can push the U-shaped cutout with the door open so it must be something inside the lock; maybe a loose spring or something.
I think i'll grind the rivets off and take a look :)

If the catch cant reach far enough in to engage on the striker rod it wont make it to the second step. The solution would be to loosen the striker plate and move it towards the exterior so the catch can engage earlier then then obviously tighten it back up before trying.. It would only take a few minutes to try it before disemboweling the lock. If it works by hand with the door open then it is simply not closing far enough.

nice pics!
problem is it doesn't work by hand with the door open..it only goes to the first click :-(
(while this is a new lock from paddockspares (britpart I guess..)

if you have the old ones, maybe pull one of them apart and see whats what and if it looks easy to put back together then try to check one of those, hang on if they are new they maybe a bad set or one at the least what you could do is see if the place can exchange them for another set as your seem problematic.

Tony.

unfortunatly I do not have the old ones anymore. But they are not really expensive so I'll order a new one and take the broken one apart
