I have taken the headlining out and then used a hosepipe over rear roof windows the base of the roofbars and both sunroofs. I was very surprised that water wasn't pouring in from both sunroofs. I have found a leak from where the front drivers side drain tube fits. It had been fixed before by a local 4x4 shop. I went to remove the drain tube but it came out with the plastic tube it attaches to. The leak is from the mastic that is all around the tray the drain tube fits on.

Do I have to take the whole sunroof off to reseal this tray, as it would be a shame to disturb the good seals in place? Thanks.

You do have a leaking glass seal if water is entering the sunroof track also you’re lucky the water is reaching a drain as the drains are only at the front for a purpose.
Anyway access to the drains without removing the headliner or the sunroof is by removing the sunroof headliner trim which will leave a small amount of space to lower the headliner slightly.

I have taken the headlining out already or are you talking about a headliner on the sunroof itself? Thanks.

The car is normally parked on our steep drive facing up the slope so maybe thats why it hasn't been draing out of the drain tubes.

There’s only one headliner and u have removed that, so there isn’t an issue with access therefore easy to repair and refit the drain cup as it should be be new sealant.

I have peeled back the mastic but it seems to be fixed quite solidly in place and the drain hole has a metal plate behind it. Should that be there?

Ok that’s good the cup arrangement is still attached so no need to touch it as it’s stuck with the LRs adhesive which is stronger than any mastic, unfortunately the outlet spout which the plastic pipe attaches to has broken off.

If u have the spout then reattach it with epoxy glue and when set attach the pipe, a bead of sealant over LRs stuff my be required. Job done.:)

One of mine had done this. I found a pen which was a perfect fit in the spout so I cut a short length off and glued it inside the spout to help reinforce the joint.
Never checked mine but then I’ve never opened the sunroof with water laying on it, so don’t know if they function as they should. :(

I have attached the spout with epoxy and refitted the tube. I have used Sikaflex 291 around the cup. It was dark and I hate applying sealant. Heavy rain showers forecast for tomorrow so I will find out if there is any improvement. Thanks.
