A few months back I bought a brand new Varta battery for me 200tdi and all was well. A few weeks ago I went to start it up and it was almost completely dead. I had noticed the landy was taking longer to start compared to usual/ previously but thought that may have been due to the cold weather! As I needed to get somewhere quickly I swapped it back to my old battery that been lying in the cold garage for a couple of months without use and the engine jumped into life! Unfortunately in the last week (even though it has been a fair bit above 0 degrees) I have noticed it is getting slower and slower on start up. At first I thought this was a battery problem but after two I am starting to think it is something else. Note that the old battery which is currently in has a slightly higher capacity than the new Varta one. Surely it's not the alternator as the battery light goes out after you give it a few revs. Any ideas as to what else it could be? I mean I don't use the 90 for long journeys at the mo but it's certainly not left for more than a couple of days without use for journeys of at minimum 15 miles so no 1 mile trips to the local shop! It's fair to say that back in October I did upgrade my stereo with new speakers and a sub but I hardly ever have it on unless the engine is running (i.e. driving!)

Thanks.

need to stick a multimeter on it, check batt, alt and see if you have a drain.

even though the alt light is going out you need to check it ! with the engine running should read about 14 volts if its 12 or less alt is nakkered my guess is its that
