BOOMER
Bloke from Dorset
If the battery went flat on my 2.5DT P38, inserting the key to resync things always worked without resorting to inputting the EKA code.
So based on my experiences, I went to try and help a friend this morning who has been struggling to resolve some issues with his 2.5DT.
He had to change the battery and had the usual error message requiring EKA input or insert key.
I discovered that neither inserting the key in the ignition or correctly inputting the EKA code works on his RR,... I even tried the early model approach of pressing the lock/unlock buttons on the fob whilst the key is inserted in the drivers door lock but to no avail.
I'm guessing the micro switch in the door lock must be functioning or else the hazards wouldn't flash after the four turns to lock prior to entering the EKA code - after three correct attempts the immobiliser light is still flashing and key code lockout is displayed.
I've even tried using my 'Syncmate' tool just in case the BECM and immobiliser have unsynced from each other....
I'm hazarding a guess that maybe the BECM has been changed at some point in the RRs lifetime and a new EKA code was set up that is different to the one on the proper card in my friends owners manual.
I've advised him to contact a Land Rover main dealer (with proof of vehicle ownership) to see if there is a different code.
Is there anything else that I could have tried?
