another stupid question about stupid series ****ing brakes :mad:

the last load of series brakes i have bleed up have gone a treat and then this one is being a bitch,

i have new wheel cylinders front top and bottom and the back both side, new rear shoes and the front shoes are hardly worn, new flexi hoses, and new copper pipes on rear Axel, and new master cylinders. and the adjusters are all tight to the drums.

after having problems before i brought a half fords easy bleed kit. which works well i bleed it up till i get no air out and then bleed some more to make sure, using both methods starting at the furtherest wheel and working to-wards the closest wheel and the other way around. also i have jacked the front half up till the master cylinder is level.

the rear brakes are good! no air coming out when bleeding with the kit or with a second person pressing the pedal. as long as the front flexi's are nipped up
however if i nip the back up and test the fronts theres no pedal at all but if i nip one side up and it doesn't matter what side it is there pedal is good.

if i keep the easy bleed kit on the front brakes are good with both sides unlike without i can only get a pedal with one side.

when i talk about the pedal being good, i mean the pedal goes down about 1.7cm like it should with the pads tight to the drum.

have you checked the spring tension between the shoes or are the adjusters set up corrrectlly
could just be execive movement between shoe and drum
set the adjusters fully up so they lock the wheel then see what the pedal is like

most of the time its something really easy but becouse your getting stressed you over look the silly things

Just going to post same, it sounds like too much travel on front shoes hence when one is blocked off the pedal is better. Tighten both right up.

okay i will make sure all the adjusters are done up tight as :)

but i did go around and tighten them all up
 
hang on second thought i think i may have missed that adjuster which is hard to get to .... ****ing steering arms who needs them heyy......
 
i have all the adjusters f.t now, and with out any of the hoses nipped up i have the pedal about 1-1.5 iches of the floor so not the best and thats till with the adjusters up.
and still no air coming out when bleeding the brakes up.
will it get better then is?
 
just a thought. my local land rover dealer for parts have been know to be stupid. i have had a fair few wrong parts, i have a pedal but its near the floor but if i double press the pedal i get an 'awesome' pedal. could it be i have the wrong Master cylinder?

yes its possible......esp if you have twin leaders on the front
 
thats all i can think of theres no air in the system anymore and i have checked checked and checked presuser tested the system and theres no leaks and no fluid leaking. all standard cylinders shoes are in perfect condition.
new flexi's so i know and checked they are not expanding.
its the last thing i can think of.
unless i am missing something?
 
another thing some people say u should bleed with the adjusters of and the shoes pressing the wheel cylinders in when using an easybleed kit and most people say to do with the adjusters tight to the drums. WHAT is the right way?
 
I get them adjusted up correctly, not loose, not tight. Sometimes I find by jacking up the car helps the bleeding process! I have not found the easybleed kits to be much good at all, I have found doing in manually (albeit, will take two people) is better.

Also I have got nowhere with bleeding and it has come down to using non-genuine brake cylinders.

what are you meaning? and the back is perfect what so the problem is in the front end and the landy is already jacked up till the master cylinder is level about 6-7 foot ......

, does your halfords ezibleed have an adaptor for the land rover master cylinder?
mine doesn't,
have you tried the "one big pump and then 4 half pumps rapidly" method?

yes mine does but to get it to seal i used a 29mm o ring that just fits over the thread and to 26 tight fitting on on the thread so the caps screwing onto them to get it to seal

and no i cant say i have heard of that method what do u have to do?






also i have been told the air traps in the top wheel cylinders either taking shoes of and clamping fully in will help and also turning the brake pate around so when your bleeding the bleed screw is at the top if that makes sense.
