Another defender may be on the horizon, we have a couple of horses and will need to ferry bales about in winter, anyone know if you can fit a bale of hay (large round bales) in the back of a 110 double cab or 90 pick up.......or would I need to be looking at a 110 pick up?
Cheers ;)

hi-cap pick-up

He's on about the huge round bales.. It'd have to be loaded sideways on. and it'd be a tight fit. Would love to be there when he tries to get it to roll off over the sides, though :D

lol really? ......and yeah I mean the big round ones, I've had loads in the past on the back of a 110 pick-up with no issue, loaded with the rounded end down into the tub and strapped on they fit fine, easily rolled out with 2 people.
Just wondered if they'd fit in length wise in a 90 or 110DC?

yes but they weigh about 250 to 300Kg Be interested in how he's gonna off load.

used to haul 2 4x5 rounds in my pickup (about 1100 lbs) each loaded with tractor and would push then off the truck onto the ground then put ring feeder around it

Would you not be better off with whatever Fender you fancy and get a Sankey for carting your bales around:confused::confused::confused:

Yeah as said they're not that heavy. Our little massey 135 can pick them up quite comfortably, but it can't move a dumpy bag of sand and they're around 850kg....

depends on your access.

ideal is a 110 hi-cap but i have a 90 pick up and fully intend to put round bales on it this winter...
when i get a chance tho im going to try it first,it will get loaded with the tractor.the mini hestons of straw fit on across the tub ok...

Square bales are fine, i just dont think the larger round bales will fit length wise into a 90/DC :(

It's wasn't a compromise really with the DC as it would be big enough for family and to ferry the bales about and I quite like the look of them (taboo on here so i've read lol)

90/110 pick up would be a compromise with only 3 seats.........maybe I should look at a trailer after all

i have a 90 and used a sankey to move hay around i also moved a 1000l ibc of water around on it. i sold the livery yard so if you want to buy the trailer pm me

Double cabs are taboo? I better hide then as I have one :behindsofa:

lol no need to hide! I like them :-D (as does the mrs.......which is handy :))

Good to hear a few people have fitted them in, so that could be an option :)

Are the DC's tubs the same as the 90's or bigger/smaller?
