I have said before that never again will I ever buy Britpart due to all the problems I have had with their parts either failing shortly after fitting or not fitting at all. Well I was at a loss as to where to go for front swivels for my S3 so stuck a post on here and the responses were along the lines of baring quality may differ from one make to another and thats about it so I took the plunge and put my hand deep into my pocket and payed over £120 for a pair of new swivel balls with the top and botom barings. Got the inner baring out of my old swivel and it lovely and smooth so I set about fitting it into my new swivel... TURD IN A **** POT! I can push the baring in by hand and then pull it out again by hand. Ive got my mic's out and the top and bottom interference is 10 tho for the Rialko and the taper baring!!! How in Gods name are you suposed to press two steel components together that are 10 tho different in size 1-3 tho maby but ffs. So to sum up inner baring falls out and top and bottom baring wont press in GREAT!. This has made me think why bother with this rebuild? Im doing this for fun and the satisfaction of saying I put together every nut and bolt on that Landy im driving with a beaming smile on my face but now I'm looking at a brand new Galvo chassis and so many other new parts that come to around 2K and thinking I shouldn't have bothered. THANK YOU BRITPART

The list of Britpart parts so far...

Disco V8 rad (Bottom hose outlet fouled power stearing box)
Disco thermostat (Didn't fit in the front of engine head as diameter was too big???)
Disco front disc mud shields (Bold holes didn't line up with holes in hub by half a hole)
Disco discs and pads (Less than 2K miles before being so warped they were unusable)
Disco trackrod ends (Fitted to pass mot failed next mot on them after 8-9K miles)
Series parabolics (Fouled chassis)
Recon power stearing box (Seales blew after 4 months)
Front swivels for series (****e!)

Not just me tho because my mate called me up a couple of weeks ago and asked me to look at a britpare recon starter motor he bought. You could actualy put deep groves in the surface of the starter gear with a screw driver it was that soft how long would that last against the flywheel teeth??

completely agree..I try to avoid using them if at all possible. Most things I have had from them were either faulty to start with or wore out far too quickly. The only thing I've had off em that still works is a drop plate for the towball.

same here.....had sum right crap from em...when i changed me swivels i ended up winning a 2nd hand ex mod ambulance axle of ebay for 1p perfect swivels when i took the gaiters off, checked the railko bearings like new so swapped the complete swivel assemblies both sides

i completly disagree.
series 3 clutch on lightweight very good and much cheaper than a girling one
heavy duty front defender springs exellent quality.
750 16 tubes very good quality and by far the cheapest
service + filter kits for td5 2.25petrol 2.25 diesel 2.5 na and 300tdi all great and easy to fit .

now there:s a thing i was just about to order a set myself filled mine up with oil the other day and most of it is on the road i take it u r talking about the ones sold by paddock so heres the question anyone else used them and thought they were good.should i look into getting the old ones re chromed.does anyone else make them of a better quality or should i look for a good quality second hand set.thanks in advance

Bloat you may have had sucsess with some filters and 2 front springs but look at the list ive put at the bottom of my first post. We ended up striping the gear wheel off the end of my mates new starter and fitting the one of his old starter before returning it for the surcharge. If thats the case with a starter then how long before the clutch release baring or pressure plate give up in the britpart clutch? Also to say you disagree completly with what ive put??? Have you ever bought britpart swivels? If I were to try and use a press for the Rialco or the bottom taper baring somthing would give way due to them being so tight and the Genuine Landrover inner baring comes out of the new swivel if you bump it on the worktop! Well done for not having any problems but from my experience with them its just a matter of time before you get somthing for your defender or other landys that looks like it was made to fit a completly different car.

just looked up bearmach as suggested and notice there ditribution depot is only half an hours drive in cardiff does anyone know can i just call in and get them or do i have to order them.secondly when i take out the old swivel houseing would you recomend replacing all the bearings inside at the same time or just replace bits that apear worn and lastly any one know the cost of the swivel house that they sell

I had a spare swivel housing, but can't remember where it went. If I find it, you can have it.

Brought a Britpart exhaust manifold for the lightweight petrol it was so oversize had to grind/file 3/8 of an inch of each side of the centre lugs of the inlet manifold 1/4 inch of the inner lugs of the exhaust manifold to get it to fit.

Hi trunkneck, you can just call in and get them but make sure you phone to check availability first other wise you'll have a wasted journey, ask me how I know. Otherwise a good shop.

I've spent £1000's on Paddock/Britpart spares over the years and apart from the odd duff part, (which even genuine parts were guilty of) I'm very pleased with them.

There's no way I could have afforded the costs of genuine parts for 3 Landy rebuilds, one? Maybe!

Aitch
