Just to top the problems off this week with my D2 the float switch has decided it doesn't want to float.
Can't find any switches that are less than 30 quid. Which seems like a massive waste, could probably make one cheaper.. so question is anyone managed to reseal one or make float some other way? I was unsure whether to reseal it as brake fluid breaks down alot of things. Wasn't sure if locktite or hydraulic sealant would be impervious to it. Or silicone based? Any advice appreciated!

Honestly I didn't look too hard cos I had a long day pouring a garage floor and it's getting dark, it wasn't floating when the level is at max and in it bells through rarther than being open like when I pushed it outside the fitting. I think the black part on the bottom was letting in the liquid. And stopping it floating. I was thinking just to seal it with hydraulic sealant. I've used it on insulating oils before but I know brake fluid is abit diffirent
 
Have you tested the switch first ?

If light is on, unplug; if light clears, switch is the source of the connection...

If light stays on, it could be the ebrake switch... Both ebrake and low fluid light the same bulb...

Give the ebrake lever a good shake if you think it's that ...

Yes I remember that from fender wiring nightmare I did disconnect it, I then bell tested it in position and out, in the resevoir which is full it wasn't operating, when I removed it worked as I pressed. I did it with brakes off so it can't be bad pads draining fluid either. So must be float switch

Neither am I ... most epoxy glues are ok for a while, but not indefinitely ...

Yeah I don't want it to contaminate the brake fluid. I think locktite breaks down. I have some hydraulic sealant I'd be more happy using but for the sake of asking I thought maybe someone knows! It's annoying I found a switch for 6 quid which is fair (unlike 30 odd...) but no stock

Is there a breakers near to you ?

Or another type of vehicle that uses that type of float ?

Nothings close till I fix the disco for mot hahaha I'm scanning ebay for same type now, I just figure if I could reseal be easier can't find any info on brake fluid sealants though. Suppose most of it is metal compression fittings so doesn't need.
Not sure if my defender is same type I'll check when I can get to yard
 
If you can see a crack, then you might be able to heat the plastic up using a soldering iron to reseal it.

If it's the Base black part I'm guessing it's ko'd without sealing? I'll look in the light in morning if it's cracked thanks for the advice! I did think heat but then I thought isn't brake fluid super flammable... haha unlike your friend it seems dippy! :D:D
