ONE LIFE LIVE IT. D90

Hi all.

access to my battery is a little awkward on my 300tdi defender. And I'd like to fit an anderson connector off the starter motor.

Will this be okay?

I plan to take the positive off the starter motor post. And the negative off one of the bolts that mount the starter motor.

Can anyone see any issues with this for jump starting? Will it work just as well as running straight off the battery?

(I wanted to take it off the starter because I thought it looks neater, cheaper and leaves more room in the battery box).

Thanks alot

If you mean right off ie directly off the starter :confused:then that's only going to work when the starter relay is engaged ie when you are turning the key:confused:

The main live to the starter is a direct connection to battery positive.

No they generally have a separate solenoid/ starter relay mounted away from the starter motor

i had to ask, although i've been riding bikes for years i've never had a starting issue that involved the starter motor itself so never really given it any thought

I've got them on all my bikes makes life so much easier( well apart from when I disconnected it and forgot, then wondered why it wouldn't start and scratched by head for 5 mins) haha

No issue with direct connection to the starter motor, might even make it spin a bit faster by eliminating the drop from the battery when jumping it. OK too if you are using it as a power take off.
