Hi, Im Matt from Doncaster.

Ive been looking at a 1979 s3 109.

Despite the pics I've taken today, the vehicle is complete with its original hard top (pickup not really what im after) and wings, front end, bonnet and engine etc.

It was last on the road in '06 and is already dvla registered.

Basically I was wondering if any of you guys can see any major problems. Ive paid £50 for it, although its not in my possession yet (cant transport till weekend). Also can anyone tell me anything from the plates ive photographed?

Where from? Is it from that place in Stainforth/Hatfield near the dumpit site? I like the look of the swb next to it ... 'specially if it's a similar price ... ;)

Could be ex-military with the convoy lights switch.

no other 4x4, just a knackered bulkhead a written off supra and the bits im having - sorry.

what do you think to it?

Nice, looks a reasonable chassis, which is main thing, and bulkhead doesn't loo bad, certainly more than £50's worth ... you'd get that back ebaying the Salisbury axle/diff ... ;) If you've got the V5c than it's a steal and a project worth doing.

I'm after an el-cheapo, doesn't matter how nackered, swb series or early 90/whatever for one of my kids to do up, with my help, ready for 17th birthday ... eldest is now 17 but wanted a moped, so we want it for the 14 year old ... :)

Try the ex MOD places if you really don't care how bad they are then that's the place to hunt them down.

Yeah we've tried, keep seeming to miss the 'spares/repairs' ones, and won't be spending hundreds on it either ... don't want to spend one hundred on it even!!

Must admit to not trying too hard yet, money's tight at the mo', but as soon as we can we'll get something, unless someone wants to donate to an unworthy cause ... ;)

Definately ex MOD, has the Nato stock number and Military registration 31HF43 on the ID plate.

The truck cab will be added later as it would have had a canvas tilt.

Its only £50, but needs alot of work, depends on your budget, time and space.

I'm confused, which vehicle are we looking at, there are photos of two different vehicles here.

Wow! your right! the first pic on the second post is the swb, before i found out that it was not for sale. Dont know how that sneaked in ;)

Thats some observation!

Is there any way of finding its service history? Would love to know who it served with or even where it has been?

Try this address with as much info on the vehicle that you can give them+ it costs 25 pounds.

I could claim I had noticed the keys in the ignition, or that the auxiliary switch panel was missing, but the the lack of a gearbox was a bit of a give away!
