Can anyone tell me what an amr 6289 fm transmitter does? It's fitted above the disc player/subwoofer nsr in a p38 v8 year 2000.

I've googled it but nothing came up..Thanks in advance...

isn't it one of them things people use to play ipod/mp3 players through there existing stereo ????

It's factory fitted & deep clear blue just like the one on the opposite side of the boot, only 1/3 of the size.....

Thanks, reason for asking is the battery goes flat if left for more than a few days even if i don't lock/alarm car so i think something is keeping the becm awake & i'm looking for likely causes....

If theres a lot of wifi in your area, then it'll interfere with the af receiver for your fob keys. Best bet is to disconnect it. You can still open your doors with the fob, but you'll have to be really close.

If you take the trim off the rear off-side in the boot, you should get to the RF Receiver. If you change the receiver to part #YWY500010, it should work fine :)

Thanks,i have looked at that before & i do have that part as it was the last update from the factory as i'm led to believe, however i've not tried disconecting it so will give that a try & let you know the outcome...thanks

If you search on this forum or look for battery problems on rangerovers.net, you'll see that the RF receiver causes a lot of flat battery problems.....its a black box, near the blue amp on the drivers side rear, under the parcel shelf. Either get a new one - its easy to fit - don't get it off ebay as lots of old ones are sold in "new" boxes- cost about £150 at a stealer - or unplug the aerial wire leading into the box and use the fob up close to the car.

Thanks Rangiegal. It's a bit of a pain to get at but i have looked at that before.I have checked with my local dealer & i have the latest version but i'll try leaving it disconnected & see if it makes any difference...cheers
