I have a Discovery 1996 with AMR 4886 alarm.
Problem:
When locking door with key fobs the doors lock but the indicators do not flash and sometimes the alarm goes off then after a short period of time the alarm goes off and the lights start flashing.
When unlocking the doors the system works correctly.
The batteries in the remotes have been changed recently.
Has anyone had a similar problem or know what the cure is.

What happens when locking with the key? remenber that you will still have to unlock with the fob or the alarm will go off. Locking with the key isolates the interior ultrasonic detetector, also it has been know for the bonnet switch to play up so check that out.

What does it mean when the indicators dont flash on locking and unlocking ?

Ok, All the door sensors are working ok. Remote fobs fine, Cant find any dead fuses. Hazard light switch is all good.
This is driving me nuts!

Any update Pete? Mine's having the same issue - remote locks/unlocks doors, but no flashing of hazards and no light on the dash!

The flash function is fused with the headlight washers(?) if you have them.
I would check Fuse 2, second from left, on the bottom on the bottom row of 6 fuses on the fuse panel below the steering wheel.
Most common cause of failure is the headlight washer pump going faulty and blowing the fuse so you may have to dis-connect pump before renewing fuse.
If your car doesn't have headlight washers I woukld still look at the above fuse.
