Yes there is an Alloy chassis but you have to have them made to order. Try googling Bowler widcat and North OffRoad

If it's an aluminium chassis, would it not 'rot' anyways by usin' steel fixings and brackets etc?
It widnae be a Galvie chassis ye're on about, would it?

is it possible that in some old landys theres an aluminium shassi???
if so what year?
cheers
d:confused:

NO never
and not a good idea realy
you could go space frame but even them are usally crome molly ( steel) like the Bowler widcat and North OffRoad stuff or even a lotus 7

a good ladder, if you have one can be hot dip gavanised, adds about 30 - 50 Kg, depending on how good the operatour is.

i have seen SS ladders built but then thay cost about 1/2 the price of the LR its self.

Aluminum, as posted above will react where brackets are attached, it will even react with a nut.
aluminum will work harden, ie like bending a paper clip untill it snaps, not so good for a LR

actually aluminium has been its official spelling and pronunciation for some time. Funny etymology behind that.

And.. rust aluminium may not.. but it does corrode something fierce in contact with certain other metals.. such as steel. Not an Ideal chassis metal.. but it has been used.

am curious, where do yer come from and how long have they spilt chassis as shassi?

sorry for the spelling poeple its even hard for me to read your spelling with the yer and all but i am trying...

Aluminium chassis? Sure as hell wouldn't want one on mine, it's got more dents & bends than an abo missing a shot!
