Hi All!
Help please :) !!
1. Just removing my alternator (Lucas LRA00100) from my 2.25 petrol 90 and I have hit a snag!!
Removed all the bolts only to find the thing is still attached by some sort of sleeve going through the one of the alternator and mounting points. Any ideas how I get it out. I really don't want to start knocking things until I know what i'm doing!!

I was also wondering if this is the correct alternator for the vehicle as I can't find any reference to these 'stubs'? Any ideas ? :)
 
The steel tube is part of the alternator casting, so all you need to do is get a bit heavy with a pry bar and the alt will come free.
Basically he alternator casting is like a hand gripping the mounting bracket, and as its been on there for some time it is just stuck.

Oh yes! I have googled it and can see it! Great that gives me a bit of confidence now I know what I’m dealing with! Thank you very much for that

They are a brilliant old fashioned alternator fitted to pretty much about any old car/boat/machine you can think of.
The brush box is held in with three screws and costs about a tenner to replace, they get old and the brushes wear, people replace the whole alt rather than try a brush box.

I’m planning on getting it totally remanufactured, so it will be like new again! I’m certainly not getting rid of it! I’ve been working all day, so have not tried getting it off yet, but I really appreciate all the info. I will update everyone on how it goes! Thanks again :)

Just to let you know the alternator came out in seconds using a screwdriver as a lever!! Easy when you know how! Thanks again :)
 
I just thought I would give you a last update on this!
I found a great company to restore my Alternator and Starter Motor to like new. They were both Lucas originals and not working properly.
After lots of searching I found a company called Heritage Rotating Electrics AKA Maltby Auto Electrical Services. www.heritagerotating.co.uk
I was not disappointed. Quick turnaround and the units came back like new! Amazing! With a two year guarantee!
These guys are recommended! And thanks again for the tips on getting the Alternator out!!
