what do you mean by "main fuse"? which FL? ... some of them have to do with the lighting some dont... and if it blew and you dont know why it will blow again when you fit the new one... didnt you create a short-circuit somewhere by replaceing the alternator?

Sorry yes it's a discovery 300tdi. The main fuse under the bonnet, I changed the alternator and the earth and live feed touched causing the fuse to blow and its been since then everything stopped working, will the blow alternator fuse stop the lights, wipers and washer from working? Also the rev counters stopped working too but I know that runs off the alternator

The engine bay fuse box has the fuseable links all are high amperage but worth a check.
